two thirty in the morning. sad about everything. crushing hard on bann teagan. thinking about connor being all small and looking up at him and thinking, one day. without even any more form than that, without even any greater shape or specificity. just: one day. and then one day arrives, without even having the decency to knock first, and connor grows the braid because teagan keeps the braid, and they stand shoulder to shoulder, and connor can meet him in the eye at last—and they share a common pride, something fereldan specifically in nature, not in name. all the almosts and the mistakes and the years spent being shorter, and now, teagan has a nephew to be proud of, a nephew who was always so proud of teagan.
